CROSS CONNECTION INSPECTION:

The Blue Mounds Water Utility is required by the Department of Natural Resources to make these inspections. A cross-connection is defined as any physical connection or arrangement between two otherwise separate systems, one of which contains drinkable water from the Village of Blue Mounds water system, and the other water, from a private source. Water of unknown or questionable safety, or steam, gases or chemicals whereby there maybe flow from one system to the other, the direction of flow depending on pressure differential between the two systems. This could be as simple as a garden hose, connected to a faucet, without back flow prevention, with the other end of the hose laying in a bucket, or connected to a sprayer containing fertilizer, insecticides or other chemicals and have a loss of pressure on the village main which would siphon contaminates into the village water supply system. Your cooperation by allowing utility employees to make this inspection, although mandated, is greatly appreciated.

Disconnection Policy

If your utility bill becomes delinquent, we are required by the Public Service Commission rules to send disconnect notices ten days prior to the contemplated date of disconnection. If there is no response to this notice, a 24 hour disconnect notice will be delivered to your address by the public works dept. This will be your final notice. Your service WILL be disconnected if you do not respond to this notice. A written work order will be issued authorizing disconnection. The utility dept. will then turn the water off at the curb and leave a notice at the property. All payment negotiations are to be done at the utility office. The utility workers are not authorized to collect or negotiate payments. Utility workers are only responsible for completing the work order, which means disconnection of service and delivery of notice.

Your service WILL be disconnected on or after date shown on notice unless:

1) the account is paid in full

2) arrangements are made to pay by signing a deferred payment agreement. If payment is not made on the agreed date(s) a subsequent notice shall be left on the premises 24 hours prior to disconnection.
